History of the unit

2018

Inauguration of the Unité d’hémato-oncologie pédiatrique Charles-Bruneau

A major $5M donation from Fondation Charles-Bruneau helped expand and improve spaces for young patients and their families, increasing the number of private rooms from 9 to 12 and creating 10 treatment spaces in enclosed cubicles, as well as two pressurized isolation rooms. The project also enhanced living and common areas and added an on-site satellite pharmacy and research team.

2021

Nearly $9 million for the CHU Québec-Université Laval

A donation from the Fondation Charles-Bruneau to implement a project to improve nursing support for children with cancer, in cooperation with the children and their families. This project will have an impact throughout Quebec and beyond. By adapting care to the needs of families, this research will heighten the expertise of nurses and facilitate their retention.

2025

A $5.3M investment for the research

A $5.3M investment from the Fondation Charles-Bruneau to advance proteomics and personalized immunotherapy, better predict treatment-related complications, improve support for young patients receiving oral chemotherapy, and explore new treatment options for medulloblastomas.

    Commitment of $50 million (2025-2030)

Over $5M invested in the Unité d’hémato-oncologie pédiatrique Charles-Bruneau

This new five-year commitment of $5,206,413 to CHU de Québec–Université Laval will deepen our understanding of paediatric cancers and develop more personalized treatments, while reducing treatment-related complications, improving oral chemotherapy management, and advancing new approaches to medulloblastoma treatment.
