A leading paediatric health centre, the Montreal Children’s Hospital is home to a world-renowned team of specialists. The Fondation’s support allows it to finance an exceptional care and research environment serving young patients within the Réseau universitaire intégré de santé et de services sociaux (RUISSS) McGill, which covers 63% of Quebec’s territory, including Montreal, the Montérégie region and several other regions of Quebec.

The Charles-Bruneau Cancer Centre at the Montreal Children’s Hospital is distinguished by its scientific and clinical leadership.

Specialized expertise

the Centre is recognized in the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma and solid tumours, as well as in neuro-oncology and cellular therapy. It has also carved out a speciality niche in cancer predisposition syndromes.

International collaboration

Member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the world’s largest research organization, the institution collaborates with the most prestigious networks (FDA, NIH) to ensure rigorous oversight of clinical trials.

History of the Centre

2014

Massive donation from the Fondation

Donation of $1.5 million from the Fondation Charles-Bruneau for the new Charles-Bruneau Hematology-Oncology Day Treatment Center (now the Charles-Bruneau Cancer Centre) at the McGill University Health Centre’s (MUHC) Glen site.

2015

Opening of the Charles-Bruneau Hematology-Oncology Day Treatment Centre

The new space includes a waiting and play area, a triage room, examination and treatment rooms, an observation room, a procedure room for interventions under sedation, and an oncology satellite pharmacy integrated into the treatment centre.

2018

Major commitment from the Fondation Charles-Bruneau

Major commitment of $4 million from the Fondation to the team of researchers led by Dr. Nada Jabado for research on childhood glioblastoma, one of the most devastating types of brain cancer.

2021

Nearly $5.5 million for the Montreal Children’s Hospital

A donation from the Fondation Charles-Bruneau to develop a method of detecting and monitoring cancer through a simple blood test, which will help avoid invasive procedures, speed up the diagnosis of solid tumours, and simplify patient follow-up.

2025

$17.2M commitment to the Montreal Children’s Hospital

A $17.2M donation to advance paediatric cancer research, particularly through genetic profiling, artificial intelligence and data analysis, while supporting the training of the next generation of specialists.

2026

The Charles-Bruneau Hematology-Oncology Day Treatment Centre is renamed

The Charles-Bruneau Hematology-Oncology Day Treatment Centre is renamed the Charles-Bruneau Cancer Centre, in recognition of the Fondation’s historic commitment in 2025.

    Commitment $50 million (2025-2030)

    Over $17M invested in the Charles-Bruneau Cancer Centre

    This new five-year commitment of $17,237,335 to the Montreal Children’s Hospital will be invested in accelerating discoveries in paediatric oncology through cutting-edge approaches such as genetics, artificial intelligence and data analysis, while helping to train the next generation of highly specialized experts.

    Through this major commitment, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau reaffirms its deep conviction: curing more children, and curing them better, depends on lasting collaboration and research driven by the real needs of children and their families.
